The arrival of a baby is always a reason to celebrate, especially when the moment comes to finally meet them after months of waiting.
Babies often astonish us with their distinct characteristics, whether it’s a head full of hair or charming dimples. Yet, the most unexpected twist can happen when a baby resembles neither of their parents.
This was true for one family whose story has gone viral, igniting curiosity and speculation across the internet. Keep reading to discover how it all unfolded…
Rachel, a cashier at Celina 52 Truck Stop in Tennessee, welcomed her son, Cash Jamal Buckman, into the world on February 17, 2024.
However, what drew people’s attention was that Rachel and her fiancé, Paul Buckman, are both white, while Cash appears to be Black.
The truck stop posted a picture of the joyful family on Facebook, congratulating Rachel on her new addition.
“Congratulations to our cashier Rachel and her fiancé Paul Buckman on their baby Cash Jamal Buckman being [born] on Saturday at 6:18pm,” the post stated.

Instead of getting congratulatory messages, the post attracted comments doubting Cash’s paternity, with some people implying that Paul may not be the biological father.
In light of the rumors, Celina 52 Truck Stop updated their post to include: “Yes, Paul is the father. Rachel has African American DNA that can skip generations, which might result in a child being born with darker skin.”
They also pointed out that Cash could be experiencing jaundice, a typical condition seen in newborns, and wrapped up the post with: “Please be kind.”

Despite the truck stop’s explanation, doubts and jokes continued to spread online.
One individual commented: “Congratulations!!! I AM sure he resembles his dad. Where is he?”
Another person chimed in: “Definitely needs a DNA test; what if they accidentally mixed up the kids in the nursery?”
Meanwhile, some individuals showed sympathy for Paul, with another user stating: “I feel sorry for Paul; being tricked like this is a whole new level of creepiness. Hopefully, he’ll come to his senses.”
Rachel then took action, posting her supposed DNA results on Facebook to validate her ancestry.
“For the critics claiming that I [don’t] have black DNA, maybe this will clarify things straight from my ancestry DNA results!!!! NOW STOP slandering my and my [fiancé] Paul Buckman’s name. He IS the father of Lil Cash,” she wrote.

Despite the ongoing jokes, many continued to mock the situation and question the accuracy of the test results.
“That’s the most impressive 1% I’ve ever encountered … this seems like a task for Maury,” one person remarked.
Another individual with a similar genetic background added: “I have that too … and both my kids still resemble Irish potatoes.”
The narrative quickly spread across social media, with thousands expressing their thoughts and reactions. TikTok users also participated, contributing their own funny interpretations of the scenario.
As rumors kept circulating, Celina 52 Truck Stop revealed plans to conduct polygraph and DNA tests on their staff. This announcement only intensified the situation, with many eagerly anticipating the results of the inquiry.
Then, on March 24, the Celina 52 Truck Stop posted on Facebook what they referred to as their “FINAL STATEMENT REGARDING CASH JAMAL BUCKMAN PATERNITY.”
The message was straightforward and conclusive — an effort to finally quell the ongoing rumors and speculation. According to Rachel’s workplace, the DNA findings from the Steve Wilkos show indicated that Paul Buckman is not the biological father of Cash Jamal.
Rachel asserts that she was loyal to Paul and states that Cash was conceived with her former boyfriend in 2021. She thinks his DNA lay dormant until 2023, when she got Covid, which triggered the DNA to activate and led to her pregnancy.
Despite this revelation, Paul has chosen to remain with Rachel and raise Cash as his own, convinced that this news will only deepen their connection.
On February 27, 2024, Rachel stepped down from her cashier role at the Truck Stop, receiving $100 as severance pay.
Celina 52 Truck Stop concluded the press release with, “As Maury Povich would say, ‘Paul, you are NOT the father, but you ARE the dad.’”
